Not only is Jay Obertance one of the top Mazda salespeople in the region, but he’s the reigning two-time champ of the Strawberry Jell-O Pretzel Salad Standoff, presented by YaJagoff! Media. And on Saturday, May 10th, he’ll be defending his crown against some fierce confectioners.
If you’re wondering exactly how a Strawberry Jell-O Pretzel Salad Standoff goes down, we’ve got you covered. First, local food enthusiasts team up with their favorite nonprofit. Then, each team serves up THEIR version of this sweet Pittsburgh favorite. They can either keep their recipe traditional or take a creative twist to it. Jay tells us he’s decided to go the creative route: his salad will be tiramisu-inspired. He has again teamed up with the Ryan Douglass Field of Dreams charity.
Event ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample each of the tasty entries and then the official judges will select a winner. In addition to bragging rights, the champ will receive a feature on YaJagoff!™ Late Night and a spot at the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival the following week. The winning team’s charity will receive a $1,000 donation.
